Notwithstanding the extremely hot weather, and the fact that England were playing in the quarter finals of the World Cup, Froxfield War Memorial Hall was filled by an audience to hear Phoenix Brass perform a mixed repertoire of music. The decision was taken by the band to perform in the local village hall to avoid the audience sitting in the heat.
The programme had been pieced together by David Watson to suit all tastes and included solo performances by solo cornet, Eloise Brooks, playing “Share my Yoke” written by Joy Webb, and arranged by Ivor Bosanko and Steve Rogers, solo trombone, performing “The Wind Beneath My Wings”, the theme from “Beaches”, arranged by Darrol Barry to everyone’s delight and both musicians received rapturous applause.
Refreshments were provided by Friends of Phoenix.
